Font licensing for people who hate font licensing

Font licensing can be complicated. Long EULAs, unfamiliar terms, and the nagging question: which license do I actually need? Finding a font should be the fun part. Choosing a typeface for a new identity, book, website or app is usually more exciting than figuring out how to license it. But sooner or later, the same questions come up: Can I use it for a logo? What if it goes on a website? Do I need another license for an app? What happens if the project grows? The answers aren’t necessarily complicated. They’re just often hidden behind terminology and fine print.

Find your license
So I made Find your license. Start with how you want to use the typeface, and the guide points you towards the license that fits. It also explains what each license includes, what happens when your project grows, and when it makes more sense to simply get in touch.

LudwigType licenses are perpetual. You buy them once, with no subscription or recurring fee. Licenses can be extended when a project grows, and webfonts are self-hosted rather than loaded from an external service. And if your project doesn’t fit neatly into one of the standard options, you can just ask me. The legal agreement is still there, of course. It has to be. But I’ve tried to make the EULA as simple and understandable as possible.

For companies that don’t want to think about licensing again
Sometimes a project grows beyond a single designer, website or app. For larger organizations, a Corporate License can be the simpler option. It covers unlimited users, locations, websites, apps and eBook/PDF titles within one legal entity. It also includes uses such as digital advertising, office documents and email newsletters. One payment. Perpetual use. No recurring fees. Pay once. Use it across the company.

Need something made for your brand?
Sometimes an existing typeface isn’t quite the right fit. I also design custom typefaces and adapt existing LudwigType fonts for brands and organizations. A custom typeface can be tailored to a visual identity, specific technical requirements or particular applications, from corporate communication to highly specialized uses. One typeface. Made for your brand.
