Q: How can I pay?

A: The easiest and fastest way to pay is using PayPal or your credit card (Visa or Mastercard). Once the payment is completed the fonts are sent automatically to your email address. If you don’t have a PayPal account or a credit card, you can also pay by direct bank transfer (bank wire). Just click on the Bank Transfer button. Please remember that your fonts will be sent once the transfer is complete, which can take a number of days.

Q: Who should buy fonts, the client or designer?

A: Fonts are software, so everyone who works with the font files needs a license. If a designer creates a poster for a client and hands over only the finished, non-editable artwork, it’s the designer, as the end user, who needs the license, not the client. If the client wants to work with the fonts themselves, they need their own license. A license can also be bought on behalf of a client: in that case the client must be named as the licensee and becomes the legal holder of the license, while the purchaser doesn’t gain any right to use the fonts themselves.

Q: What about VAT?

A: As a company registered in Germany, LudwigType is obligated to charge Value Added Tax (VAT) on our sales and services within the European Union (EU). If your billing address is outside of the EU, we donʼt charge the VAT. If your company resides in the EU, but has a registered VAT number, you can fill in your VAT number in the order information and we will not charge VAT. Please note that you have to do this before placing the order, as we canʼt return the VAT later.

Q: Can I buy fonts for resale?

A: No. Fonts purchased online are licensed to the buyer, who has read and agreed to the End User License Agreement, and they may not be resold or redistributed. When orders are processed, personalised license agreements specifying the conditions are issued. If your clients, colleagues or friends need a font for their own use, they need their own license (though you can buy one on their behalf, with them named as the licensee, see “Who should buy fonts” above).

Q: Can I refund or exchange fonts?

A: Because of their digital nature, fonts can not be returned, refunded, or exchanged. For more information, please review the End User Licence Agreement you agreed to during the checkout. If a font is defective and you notify us within 30 days, we will provide a replacement. If you purchase the wrong version of a font and tell us within 7 days, we will switch your order to the correct version at no charge.

Q: Do you offer student discounts?

Q: Do I receive an invoice?

A: Yes. We issue PDF invoices for all orders. Once the payment is completed the fonts and the invoice are sent automatically to your email address.
